Week 3: Day 13 - Genesis 22

Scripture Reading: Genesis 22

Devotional Focus: Trusting God with What Matters Most

Genesis 22 tells the story of Abraham's ultimate test of faith—God asking him to sacrifice his beloved son, Isaac. As moms rooted in faith, this passage stirs a deep emotional response. Like Abraham, we’re entrusted with precious children, and the thought of surrendering them to God in such a profound way can feel overwhelming. Yet, this story isn’t just about sacrifice; it’s about trust, obedience, and God’s faithfulness to provide.

When God called Abraham to offer Isaac as a sacrifice, Abraham responded immediately. He didn’t delay or question God, even though Isaac represented the fulfillment of God’s promise to make Abraham the father of many nations. Abraham’s trust in God was so complete that he believed God could even raise Isaac from the dead if necessary (Hebrews 11:19).

As moms, we’re often called to trust God with what matters most—our children, our dreams, and even our fears. It’s not always easy, especially when God’s plans don’t align with our expectations. But just as God provided a ram in place of Isaac, He provides for us in our moments of surrender. When we trust Him completely, we discover that He is Jehovah Jireh, "The Lord Will Provide."

This story also reminds us of God’s ultimate act of provision—sending His own Son, Jesus, as the sacrifice for our sins. Abraham’s willingness to offer Isaac foreshadowed the depth of God’s love for us, a love that spares nothing to bring us closer to Him.

Reflection for Moms:

Are there areas in your life where God is asking you to surrender control or trust Him more deeply?

How can you remind yourself of God’s faithfulness in times of uncertainty?

Reflect on how God has been your Provider in the past.

Encouragement for Today:

Moms, God’s plans for you and your family are always good, even when the journey requires surrender and trust. He sees the big picture, and His provision is always on time. Trust Him with your children, your future, and your heart. He is faithful, and He will never fail you.

Prayer for the Day:

Father, thank You for being my Provider, my Jehovah Jireh. Help me to trust You with what matters most, knowing that You love my family even more than I do. Teach me to surrender my fears, desires, and plans to You, and give me the faith to obey even when I don’t understand. Thank You for always providing exactly what I need. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
