Devotional:
Deuteronomy 6 opens with one of the most well-known passages in Scripture: the Shema. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength” (Deut. 6:5). Moses reminds the people of the most important thing: love and obey God wholeheartedly—and teach your children to do the same.
As moms, this is our daily call. We are not only to love God deeply ourselves but also to nurture that love in our homes. Verses 6–7 tell us to “impress [God’s commands] on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” This is a picture of faith woven into everyday moments—bedtime chats, car rides, family meals, and morning routines.
In Chapter 7, God also commands the Israelites to remain set apart, reminding them that they were chosen—not because they were the biggest or the best, but because of His love. That same love extends to us today. God has chosen us, and He invites us to live out our love for Him in practical, consistent ways.
Reflection Questions:
✨ How can you intentionally talk about God with your children during your daily routines?
✨ In what ways are you loving God with your whole heart, soul, and strength?
✨ Are there distractions or compromises in your home that God is inviting you to remove to stay “set apart”?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for choosing me and calling me to love You fully. Help me to love You not just in word, but in every part of my life. Show me how to pass on this love to my children in the small, everyday moments. May our home be a place where Your Word is lived, spoken, and remembered. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
💛 Today, look for simple ways to live out your faith in front of your children—because every moment is a chance to disciple.
