Day 28: Responding to God’s Call

In Exodus 2 and 3, we begin to see the story of Moses unfold. As a baby, he was rescued from death and raised in Pharaoh’s palace. But as an adult, Moses fled Egypt after taking matters into his own hands and killing an Egyptian. He spent years in the desert, tending sheep, living what seemed like an ordinary life. But even in the wilderness, God had a plan for Moses.

One day, God called Moses from the burning bush, revealing Himself in a powerful, unexpected way. God’s call to Moses was both personal and divine—He knew Moses by name and had a purpose for his life. God wasn’t just calling Moses to deliver the Israelites from slavery; He was calling Moses into a deeper relationship with Himself. God introduced Himself to Moses as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, reminding him that He is the same God who keeps His promises across generations.

Moses' response was one of hesitation and fear. He questioned his ability and worthiness, but God reassured him that He would be with him, empowering him for the task ahead. Moses’ encounter with God teaches us that when God calls, He doesn’t just choose the “qualified” or the “perfect” but often the ones who are unsure of their abilities. His strength is made perfect in our weakness, and His presence is enough to equip us for whatever He asks of us.

As moms, we may feel that our days are filled with the ordinary—the routine of raising children, managing our homes, and meeting the demands of life. Yet, even in these moments, God is calling us. He calls us to live faithfully in the present, to trust His plan for the future, and to be available to His voice. Whether you’re in a season of waiting or walking through a challenge, God’s call is active in your life.

Reflection Questions:

✨ How do you respond to God’s call in your life? Are there areas where you’re hesitant or uncertain?

✨ What ordinary moments in your life do you think God might be using for His purpose?

✨ How can you make space to listen for God’s voice in the midst of your busy schedule?

Prayer for the Day:

Lord, thank You for always meeting me in the ordinary moments of life. I am humbled by Your calling and Your desire to use me for Your purposes. Help me to trust that You will equip me, even in my weakness. Teach me to hear Your voice and respond in obedience, knowing that You are with me every step of the way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

As we reflect on today’s reading, let’s remember that God doesn’t call the equipped—He equips the called. You are His chosen vessel, and He has a purpose for you right where you are. 💛
