Exemplify Christ and the Church
“‘And all that believed were together, and had all things common” – Acts 2:44
The bride and the bridegroom
God wants our marriages to exemplify his relationship with the church.
Jesus died for the church and gave his life for the church because he loved her. However, there were times the church was unfaithful, stubborn and disobedient to the Lord but he kept going back for her.
Trust in the love God has for you and rest secure in your marriage knowing that God will never leave you nor forsake you. It is important we always remember who the ultimate bridegroom is. It is not your earthly husband. It is Jesus!
There is more in God to satisfy us and perfect all that concerns us.
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:- Eph 5:25-29
There would be times our earthly husbands would not meet up with who a bridegroom should be (because they are human and have flaws) but, we can always look up to our ultimate bridegroom to give himself for us, wash us, sanctify and cleanse us.
He is our bridegroom and we can always draw strength from the love he has for us in the place of worship.
May your marriage enjoy Christ and his church dimension in Jesus name. Amen.
